This policy explains what personal information Cornwall Radar collects, why, and what rights you have over it. We try to collect as little as we can get away with — most of what the site shows (weather, tides, traffic and so on) doesn't need any personal data at all, and only kicks in once you create an account, list a business, or leave a review.

1. Information we collect

If you create a consumer account: your email address, any saved locations you add (a label and postcode/town), your alert preferences, and your subscription status if you upgrade to a paid plan.

If you list a business: your email address, and whatever you choose to put in the listing itself — business name, category, description, phone number, website, postcode, logo image, and any voucher/offer details.

If you leave a review: the rating and comment you write, linked to your account so we can prevent one person leaving many reviews for the same business. Your email address is never shown publicly next to a review.

Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card details — only that a subscription is active, and Stripe's own reference for it.

Technical information: our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical data (like IP address and browser type) for security and reliability, the same way most websites do.

2. How we use your information

We don't use your information for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers below, who process it on our behalf to run the site.

3. Who we share information with

Each of these acts as a data processor on our behalf under its own agreement and privacy policy — none of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

4. What's public

Business listings and reviews are public by design — that's what makes the directory useful. A review shows your rating and comment, but not your email address or name. A business listing shows whatever the business owner chose to put in it; the owner's login email is never shown publicly.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your own account at any time from the account panel, which cancels any active subscription and removes your data. Removing a business listing or a review works the same way.

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email info@cornwallradar.co.uk. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

7. Cookies and local storage

See our Cookie Policy for the full detail — in short, we don't use analytics or advertising cookies, only the minimum needed to keep you signed in and remember your last-picked location.

8. Age requirement

Cornwall Radar's accounts and paid subscriptions are intended for people aged 18 and over, since a subscription is a binding payment contract.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to how we handle personal information, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
